It was June 8, 2018, I left Orlando, Fl and headed north towards Bowling Green, KY, the start of this year's Hot Rod Power Tour. This is an adventure that takes you to 7 cities in 7 days. This year's event went like this: June 9 Bowling Green, KY, June 10 off to Chattanooga, TN, June 11 to Hoover, AL, Tuesday, June 12 to Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA, Wednesday off to Darlington Raceway in Darlington, SC, Thursday to PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC and ending on Friday, June 15 at zMax Dragway, Concord, NC. This is the world's largest traveling car show ever, great cars and great people !
I decided this year to do the back roads drive with 100's of other participants. What a great time tooling along the backroads of TN, AL, GA, SC. Here are a few pictures of the cars along the entire routes, way too many to list.
At each of the different hotels I stayed at each night, there were new friends and cars as well as older ones. That's the real cool thing about this trip, meeting and making new friendships :)
So many pictures, over 400 so it was really cool the entire trip. The pictures below are sad because unfortunately, due to excessive left rear wheel bearing noise, I had to cut my trip short. I got to Darlington, SC, had the car looked at by the GM Medic techs, and have further review, excessive wheel bearing play. I made a command decision at the point to head back to Florida (600 miles away) instead of continuing onto to Raleigh, NC and then to Concord, NC. I made it home safe and sound but plenty of noise from left rear bearing. That story will be told in the next chapter.
I'm definitely looking forward to next year's HotRod Power Tour. I know it will start where it ended this year, Concord, NC. Who knows where we'll be driving off to next year.....looking forward to it.
