Dyno Run...a CCO day trip!
On Saturday, August 2, 2014 our Corvette Club of Orlando (CCO) was invited to do a free dyno run at Brothers Performance in Deland, Fl. There were about 10 cars that participated in this event. I decided to take the 65 up for the ride. They guys at Brothers were very professional and knowledgable regarding hookup, setup and dyno runs.
Don't know if you see the oil pan but it's a 6 quart pan that was stock on the ZZ454. It's about 1.5" deeper than the original pan I had on the previous engine. Decided not to disturb the nice factory seal. So far, no issues with clearance unless I hit speed bumps a bit fast.
That surely became an issue after gently scraping the pan on a few speed bumps. That forced me to get the regular GM 5 quart oil pan and get the ground clearance set right.
These next few shots show the '65 getting hookup to the dyno.
The end results: 1st pull - 311HP/330 ft. lbs.torque .... 2nd pull - 326 HP/378 ft.lbs torque.
Conditions were poor, almost 97* in the shop and high humidity. The results to me are low and the ignition timing and/or carb jetting needs to be addressed. Even though the engine runs very smooth, might be time to "tweak" the beast.
