The pictures above show the various stages of disassembly of the alternator. This alternator had worn brushes, a burnt stator and cracked diodes so it would not work in it's present state.
The parts above were media blasted then painted. The commutator was cleaned and surfaces lightly sanded to remove years of build-up. This is considered a Delco 10DN Series so I ordered a 105 Amp kit to replace the parts that were bad. After trying to do it myself and breaking an ear on the diode plate, I finally took the whole tamale to a shop that did nothing but rebuild alternators and starters. Smartest move I every made for this project. It presently resides in my car and works great.
